Letter Regarding Our Emergency Care Arrangements
Dear Clients,
I am writing to inform you of some important changes to our Out of Hours Service at Glebe Veterinary Surgery.
Since setting up in 2004, we have proudly provided a 24/7 service to our valued clients. However, as the sole veterinarian at our practice, managing all out-of-hours duties has become increasingly challenging and unsustainable.
Effective from 18th March 2024, Beacon Vetcare (www.beaconvetcare.co.uk) will be assuming responsibility for our out-of-hours service. Beacon Vetcare, founded by Colin and Lizzie Whiting MsRCVS, is a reputable practice known for its exceptional care and commitment to animal welfare.
Colin and Lizzie have previously worked with us at Glebe, and I have the utmost confidence in their expertise and dedication. Their referral center in Summercourt boasts state-of-the-art facilities and a team of experienced emergency veterinarians and nurses who will provide exemplary care for you and your pet outside of our regular hours.
Here's what you need to know about the transition:
To access out-of-hours care, please call our usual number, 01579 371295. Your call will be answered by our trusted answering service, who will inform you that Beacon Vetcare will handle your emergency and arrange for a member of their team to call you back promptly.
Beacon Vetcare's location in Summercourt (TR8 5DR) is approximately a 35-40 minute drive from our practice. Please bring your pet's medications if attending their facility, as this will assist the duty vet in providing the best possible care.
Payment is required at the time of service, with card payment preferred. If your pet is insured, please inform the duty vet, and arrangements can be made with Beacon Vetcare's administration team to expedite your claim process.
In case your pet requires hospitalization, they will remain at Beacon Vetcare until they are deemed fit to return home. Sick animals will not be transported back and forth between practices.
Once your pet is discharged, their clinical notes will be forwarded back to Glebe to ensure continuity of care.
I understand that these changes may raise questions or concerns. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you require further clarification or assistance. We are here to support you and your pets through this transition and beyond.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we strive to provide the best possible care for your beloved animals.
Kind regards,
Orla
